Expanding Help A Child’s Reach!

Hi friends,

It’s been quite some time since my last blog post and I apologise for that, in future I’ll try to be more timely with them!

We’ve had a rather busy time lately and I’m happy to report that we now have 484 students sponsored this year which is very close to the target we’d set of 500. While the majority of our students are still in Karnataka, this year we are sponsoring 67 students in Maharashtra, a significant increase on last year’s total of 27.

The most exciting news is that although there were some initial hiccups we have finally found an NGO to partner with us in Pune for the identification of eligible students. We will be partnering with the Global Research Education and Training Foundation ( in Pune which runs programs to improve the quality of teaching within cantonment schools along with providing English and Computer tutorials and life skills to the students. We are currently collecting applications from the students they work with and will be holding the interviews within a couple of weeks time.

It was wonderful to be able to meet some of the students on our recent visit to Pune and speak with them about their future opportunities. Many students from underprivileged families never realize their full potential as they believe that after 10th they will be unable to continue their studies anyway. By providing students with the hope that they can have their studies sponsored they are also provided with the inspiration to do their best at school and excel in their studies.

This is the first step in our efforts to expand the Help A Child program which will hopefully see us also beginning on a small scale within Gujarat and M.P. next year.

The other exciting news is that our new website is finally under production! It may take a couple of months to be ready but with the new design we are expecting that it will be much easier for our supporters to find the information they want and also to sponsor a student as some of the technological issues we are currently facing will be ironed out.

For now I hope that everyone enjoys the upcoming festive season, thank you for making the lives of our students brighter as they try to achieve their dreams and we hope you’ll be with us in the coming year as well!
